I'm Just a Broadway Baby

Last night, my wife Christine, our dear friend Author and Jeopardy! Champion Lisa Klink, and your humble scribe went to the Avery Schreiber Playhouse at 4934 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood to see The Mirror Theater Company's production of one of my favorite revues of recent memory, the truly inventive "'Carrie' That Tune: Hit Songs From Flop Musicals". The show is exactly as described; a series of wonderful songs you know from shows you've probably never heard of. The young cast, including my dear friend, Rosie Limeres, sang their hearts out, and a great time was had by all. The show is playing weekends till the end of September. Check out their schedule at www.themirrortheater,com for dates and prices. It's an evening you'll not soon forget.

After the show, having congratulated Rosie and preparing to leave, half the cast came over to meet me. Apparently, before the show, Rosie had told her fellow players who I am. Thus, I spent the next 20 minutes having my picture taken with many of them, officially, as they told me, giving them bragging rights with all their friends.

I'm starting to give serious consideration to never leaving the house ever again. At least the dogs never ask me to take a selfie with them.

All's Fair: The Deep-Fried Edition

So my lovely wife and I and two of our best friends are strolling around the LA County Fair Friday morning (one of my favorite outings of the year) when a young film crew wanders up to us, and the crew chief tentatively looks at me and asks, "Aren't you Len Wein?" I admitted that I was, and the chief explained to me that he and his crew were filming a promotion to convince comic book fans to come on down to the fair, and would I be willing to go on camera to promote the Fair?

Next thing I know, I'm standing in the middle of the Midway filming a PSA.

My life just gets more and more surreal by the day.
